Trillium Engineering Introduces Cost-Efficient HD59 Gimbals for Tactical UAS

HOOD RIVER, Ore., October 28, 2026 — Trillium Engineering announced today the HD59-MVV-C and HD59-MLVV-C, two new gimbal configurations built to meet customer requirements for tactical UAS. Expanding the HD59 family, the new offerings combine electro-optical and mid-wave infrared imaging (MWIR) with integrated laser rangefinder (LRF) and laser pointer (LP) capabilities at a lower acquisition cost.

Engineered to deliver over 30 percent improvement in system cost over traditional gimbaled MWIR solutions, the new variants combine improved optics with sensor configurations that give platform manufacturers better options for meeting imaging requirements within budget. These configurations are compatible with Trillium’s Intelligence Stack providing advanced software features. Developed around Long-Range Reconnaissance (LRR) requirements, both gimbals provide tracking and geolocation capabilities to help operators find, follow, and locate targets during intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

The two configurations offer distinct sensor combinations:

  • HD59-MVV-C: 26x zoom MWIR and 180x zoom dual visible imaging, with integrated LRF and LP.
  • HD59-MLVV-C: 26x zoom MWIR, 2x zoom LWIR, and 180x zoom dual visible imaging, with integrated LRF and LP. The LWIR channel can be configured to provide raw USB video.

At under 2kg, the new HD59 configurations continue Trillium's tradition of providing exceptional optical performance in lightweight systems. Both preserve familiar HD59 hardware and software architecture, ensuring easy integration for customers, and reducing the time and effort required to field the system. These configurations are field-ready, IP65-rated solutions optimized for seamless integration with mid-sized UAS platforms.
