January 2026 — Trillium Engineering is proud to highlight its role in advancing the U.S. Army’s Long Range Reconnaissance (LRR) capability following AeroVironment’s recent award of a $13.2 million contract to provide P550™ uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) for the Army’s LRR program.

This award underscores the military’s pivot toward high-endurance, Group 2 UAS solutions capable of delivering persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) at extended range, a mission area where Trillium’s imaging systems have consistently delivered exceptional performance.

Trillium’s HD40-LVV: A High-Performance ISR Payload

At the heart of this capability is Trillium’s HD40-LVV, a lightweight, low-SWaP-C payload engineered specifically to maximize ISR effectiveness on tactical UAS platforms.

Designed with operational flexibility in mind, the HD40-LVV combines:

  • Dual visible EO cameras with up to 180× zoom for detailed target identification.
  • High-definition LWIR thermal imaging to enable operations in low-light and obscured environments.
  • Continuous 360° pan and advanced onboard tracking that supports real-time monitoring in dynamic mission scenarios.
  • Real-time geolocation with precision accuracy, enabling actionable, coordinate-level intelligence at distances that matter.

This combination of optics, stabilization, and processing power means the HD40-LVV delivers high-confidence ISR data without compromising the endurance or handling qualities of Group 2 UAS like the P550.

Enabling Extended Army ISR Operations

AV’s LRR contract calls for delivery and integration of the P550 UAS into Army testing and evaluation efforts, supporting the service’s push to accelerate distributed reconnaissance capabilities in contested environments.
