Historic Union building will provide more space, closer location to company headquarters

HOOD RIVER, Ore.—April 14, 2021—Trillium Engineering, a developer of gimbaled cameras for small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), announced today that it has moved some of its offices to the Union Building, along the Columbia River, to better accommodate the company’s growing workforce.

Trillium Engineering’s Production, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Sales, and Human Resources Departments, which had previously occupied two buildings on the Westside of the city, will now share larger facilities only a few blocks from the company’s downtown headquarters.

“We’ve had a lot of new company hires, especially over the past year, which is great. But having so many people spread out over three buildings also makes collaboration more challenging,” said Rob Gilchrist, president of Trillium Engineering. “So we decided to bring everyone closer together.”

The historic Union Building is located at 420 Industrial Street. With its northern side facing the Columbia River, the building was once a cold storage and shipping facility used by the fruit industry. Now, it will have Trillium offices occupying 12,200 square feet—4,200 square feet more than they had in their previous two Westside buildings.

“We knew that we needed to move these past three years, even before our spike in growth in 2020. But we had to get assorted planning documents; then there was the build-out; and most recently, we had a pandemic,” Gilchrist said. “But we are finally ready to take full advantage of our roomier new home.”
