HOOD RIVER, Ore., — September 15, 2025 — Trillium Engineering is pleased to announce its HD59 series, a new line of advanced electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) gimbal systems designed for small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), mid-sized systems, and launched effects. Optimized for Long-Range Reconnaissance (LRR), Medium-Range Reconnaissance (MRR), and multi-domain missions, the HD59 combines industry-leading performance with a rugged design and optimal size, weight, and power profile.

The HD59 series includes three configurations tailored for mission versatility:

  • HD59-LLVV — Dual LWIR + HD EO sensors, maximized for simultaneous wide and narrow thermal sensing at the lightest weight in its class.
  • HD59-MLVV — MWIR + LWIR + Dual HD EO sensors, enabling superior target identification at extended ranges, in both day and night operations.
  • HD59-MLVS — Four-sensor powerhouse with MWIR, LWIR, EO, and SWIR, plus a 50mj laser designator for advanced targeting and designation, in an industry leading weight under 2kg.

All HD59 configurations are built for onboard AI/ML processing, with additional AL/ML features coming soon. Configurations include precision geopointing, and exceptional EO identification range, delivering unmatched situational awareness in contested and GPS-denied environments.

With its range of configurations, the HD59 series is purpose-built to support a broad spectrum of mission profiles. From long-endurance defense and security ISR to maritime domain awareness, border surveillance, and infrastructure protection, each gimbal delivers the clarity and precision required in complex operational environments. Its low SWaP-C design also makes it ideally suited for launched effects platforms, where lightweight, rugged payloads with advanced multi-spectral and targeting capabilities extend both reach and survivability in contested battlespaces.

Key advantages of the HD59 series include:

  • Best-in-class sensors – Unmatched detection ranges, day or night, optimized for defense, security, and commercial ISR applications
  • Lowest Weight – Unrivaled capability in the lightest package on the market
  • Precision Geolocation – Precise target location, typically within 6 meters (CES90), with GPS-denied optimizations available
  • Integrated AI Processing – Real-time, user-definable AI analytics deployed at the edge
  • Rugged Reliability – Designed to IP 65, to withstand high-impact, high-demand environments

“The HD59 series represents the next leap in airborne ISR performance for mid-sized UAS and launched effects,” said Matt Carreon, Vice President of Business Development at Trillium Engineering. “With multiple configurations, that include on-board processing for demanding AI applications, and precision targeting, these systems deliver the clarity, reach, and reliability operators need across every mission set.”

Trillium will debut the full HD59 series at the AUSA Annual Meeting 2025, where all configurations will be on display.
